Looking After Your Gums: the Key to Great Teeth

If you notice blood on your tooth brush or when you rinse, it may be the first signs of gum disease.

And as gum disease is the leading cause of tooth loss in Scottish adults, and as gum disease isn’t usually painful, we recommend you get advice and treatment as soon as possible if you notice any of the following:

  • swollen gums
  • bleeding gums
  • bad breath
  • loose or mobile teeth
  • drifting teeth
  • tartar build-up

Gum disease has now also been scientifically linked to heart disease, so keeping your gums healthy can help to maintain your overall health.

The good news is that it’s entirely preventable with good oral hygiene.
